New featurette takes us behind the scenes of Tom Cruise’s ‘The Mummy’

The Mummy is looking like it will be one incredible film, with the Russell Crowe and Tome Cruise fight scene being one of the highlights, and that’s before we even see the entire story.

This new featurette takes us behind the scenes of the upcoming movie, which includes some interesting conversations between Cruise and Crowe on how they’ve been working together for 20 years and for the first time they get to duke it out in that jaw-dropping fight scene.

The trailer divulges a little more about the story and kind of movie we’re expecting from director Alex Kurtzman. As someone who enjoys special effects, be they practical or VFX, one sequence stands out when they partially shot on a real zero-G aircraft known as the Vomit Comet, which you can kind of understand why it’s called that.

Much like the the Force Awakens, this a trend I’m liking by making more use of practical effects alongside visual effects, while as a fan of VFX, it adds to the realism when combined properly.

As for the Cruise’s character, Nick Morton, we don’t know too much about him, but he seems to be the one who gets involved in unearthing the mummy of Princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella, Star Trek Beyond), which in turn unleashes her destructive powers upon the present day.

The Mummy hits theatres on July 9, 2017.
