A Long-Lost Uncut Trailer for 1939s Son of Frankenstein Found and Remastered

Once presumed lost to time, a trailer for Universal’s 1939 film Son of Frankenstein has been rediscovered and given a makeover. The trailer was produced when silver nitrate film stock was in use over 75 years ago, but the highly inflammable film was discontinued when they switched to a far safer cellulose stock.

Directed by Rowland V. Lee, this was was the third gothic appearance for the monster, which starred Basil Rathbone, Boris Karloff and Béla Lugosi. When it was released, it was a hit, but was also Karloff’s last outing was the creature.
